9 Months

Mikey turned 9 months yesterday, so that meant a check up with the Dr and pictures. Mommy took the day off and we went to Portrait Innovations for pictures. We ended up with some good pictures as expected, but we didn't get as many smiles out of Mikey as we did the last time. Which wasn't necessarily a bad thing because it made it easier for Mommy to pick out the good ones. Mikey was much more entertained with the props than smiling for the camera. Oh well, what more can you expect from a 9 month old? Some of the better pictures are posted below. After pictures, it was off to the Dr. If anyone has been around Mikey lately it easy to see he is a very busy boy. The kid does not stay in one spot for too long. And for being a pediatric clinic the place isn't exactly baby proofed! Mommy was exhausted by the time we left! Anyway, Mikey weighed 19lbs 10oz(40%) and he was 29in long(80%). Enjoy the new pics!

Back to daycare

After a nasty case of hand, foot and mouth disease, our little guy finally went back to daycare today. Here is a textbook definition:

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common illness of infants and children. It is characterized by fever, sores in the mouth, and a rash with blisters. HFMD begins with a mild fever, poor appetite, malaise ("feeling sick"), and frequently a sore throat. One or 2 days after the fever begins, painful sores develop in the mouth. They begin as small red spots that blister and then often become ulcers. They are usually located on the tongue, gums, and inside of the cheeks. The skin rash develops over 1 to 2 days with flat or raised red spots, some with blisters. The rash does not itch, and it is usually located on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet.

It was going around the daycare center and we were worried he might pick it up. Sure enough Mommy got a call at work Monday afternoon saying Mikey needed to be picked up as he was starting to develop blisters in and around his mouth, yikes! We took Mikey to the Dr. on Tuesday morning and they confirmed it was HFMD. Wednesday morning Mikey woke up with even more blisters around his mouth and by Thursday he had the rash up and down his legs. Today you can still see a few red spots where the blisters and rash are healing but Mikey is feeling much better! Here is a picture of him on Wednesday and he still has a smile on his face!

Feeling much better and pulling myself up like usual :-)
I forgot to put it in our last post but Mikey finally sprouted a tooth over Memorial Day weekend. And he has been pulling himself up to stand on his own for several seconds. Sometimes he even claps for himself when he does :-) I don't think it will be long before he is walking...they grow up so fast!

Mikey's Baptism, new pics and video

We finally had Mikey baptized over the weekend. The baptism is held after mass in a group-there were 5 other babies being baptized. Mommy was really nervous about keeping a white outfit clean on an 8 month old for that length of time...especially when mommy and daddy had to get up DURING mass to go change a dirty diaper. But we made it, and Mikey did awesome. He babbled through most of it which made everyone smile :-)

Aunt Jody and Uncle Troy were Mikey's godparents.

Its hard to get a good pic with an active baby...mommy is smiling in this one, so that why this pic was posted instead of some of the others :-)

Posing for a pic with the Grandparents. On a side note, mommy needs to thank Grandma C. for taking the pics. They have a little red tint to them because Grandma used the "candle light" effect on her camera :-)

The hat looks much cuter without the bill flipped up!

Bath time, looks like we need to move up to the big tub soon.

Falling asleep in the highchair.

Reading (aka destroying) the newspaper with daddy.

And lastly a new video of Mikey. Sorry its a little shaky. But you can see him pulling himself up really well and babbling...enjoy!
